'CRANSTON' CHINTZ CUP & SAUCER

The ‘chintz’ patterns in chinaware were named for their resemblance to the floral-patterned cotton fabrics of the same name. Their popularity was part of the ‘cottage decorating’ trend that became a fashion item in the 1920’s and continued well into the 1950’s. This is a vintage cup and saucer set in the ‘Cranston’ pattern from Royal Winton. It features an all-over design of stylized pink and yellow roses with blue forget-me-nots and leaves, against a background of tiny green dots. The set is in excellent condition, without cracks, chips, scratches, stains, or any other damage or defect.
