Cairo Time is a gentle, romantic drama about an unexpected connection that blossoms between two people while one is waiting for a loved one. Juliette Grant (Patricia Clarkson), a Canadian magazine editor, travels to Cairo for a long-awaited vacation with her husband, Mark, a U.N. official working in the Gaza Strip. However, a crisis delays her husband indefinitely, leaving Juliette alone in the vibrant and unfamiliar city. Mark sends his trusted friend and former colleague, Tareq Khalifa (Alexander Siddig), a handsome, retired Egyptian U.N. security officer, to look after her. Initially awkward acquaintances, Tareq becomes Juliette's courteous guide, As Juliette spends an extended "Cairo Time" waiting, and Mark remains absent due to his work, her friendship with Tareq deepens into a profound and unspoken attraction.
