Candy stripper - gingham bear pants

Bought second-hand from Japan and in excellent condition. I haven't been able to find any flaws. The back of the pants look like the head of a bear! These pants are so incredibly cute and I was so excited to wear them, only to be devastated when they did not fit me at all! I know it says it is a size S, but the waist seems more like an M at the very least. Please be sure to check the measurements! The measurements below are from the thrift store I purchased it from, but when I measured the waist at home it seems closer to 30inches/78cm (40cm/15.7inches when laid flat).
