Carol Richard Selfridge Ceramic Art | Wax Resistant Studio Pottery Tea Cup | Functional Organic Clay Matcha Cup A small chip at base Base 2 inches, height 3 and 1/4 inches, open 3 inches Carol was born in Canada in Belleville, Ontario. Her Canadian childhood was spent marveling at the slate shores on Georgian Bay as a five year old, climbing trees and digging snow forts in Quebec, being awestruck by her first view of the Rocky Mountains and  riding horses in Alberta.   Richard has a more special relationship to Canada. Having been born in the United States, he chose Canada as his country in 1974.  Although we have traveled to many countries, New Zealand, Japan and Asia, Europe and Central America and have been positively affected by the wonderful pottery  world wide, I find myself incorporating  a gentle line on my tea bowls to represent the curves of the Rocky Mountains of Alberta.  I make anti-tornado mugs with a spiral and think about the huge tornado of 1987 that hit my city, Edmonton.  Richard paints terra cotta tiles with glazes in images of the prairie landscape.
