Featuring a weighty gold plated bangle engraved with 'Pour etre irremplacable il faut etre differente'. Perhaps most familiar as 'In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different'. Coco's quote was originally written about and attributed to her in 'Her Life, Her Secrets' in 1971, the year following her death, by writer Marcel Haedrich. Since then the quote has been incorporated into Chanel designs and the story of the House proving complete longevity. There's a lovely touch in the design of this piece. In very small lettering 'Coco Chanel' sits alongside the quote. This bangle is in perfect shape, worn a handful of times. The second bangle the plating has worn off in places. It says in French, “luxury starts where necessity ends”. Both incredible pieces. Purchased together in 2007, one just was worn much more regularly! This comes with one box only. (Original box!)
