This is a standing paper advent Calendar from the 1950s or 60s featuring the Christian story of the birth of Jesus, the manger scene with the visiting three wisemen, shepherds, angels and lambs under the famous star of the East. Glitter and little windows intact. Minor age related wear. See all photos for details. Looks best when lit from behind. Gorgeous for church, living room display, perfect for Bible Study groups and a lovely nostalgia vintage addition to classic Christmas decor. Original (damaged/written on) envelope reads: "This Advent Calendar is designed to be a child's companion during the Advent Season and add to its pre-Christmas pleasure. Beginning on the first Day of December, each day one of the little doors, which are punched out and show consecutive dates, will be opened: That is, on Dec 1st the door showing No1 and on Dec 2nd, door No 2 will be opened. Behind each door is a small surprise picture" (actually in this case a bible verse) "This Advent Calendar is printed on luminous paper. For most effective results place it so that the light can shine through. Printed in Western Germany " Measures about 11" tall. Is shown unfolded to about 18" across, 23" across when spread out flat.
