This is a NYC Basic Bag that I purchased from someone on Poshmark a couple of years back with the intention of trying to rehab it, but I never got around to it as I am just not experienced enough to rehab a vintage model in this colour (I feel comfortable with the black and brown bags, but have no experience with this colour and given it is a NYC bag I don't want to do anything that could ruin it. The good news is that the zipper is in fine shape (it's one of the original Talon zippers), and there are no ink stains. The rehab issues that need to be addressed are: on the one side there are some scratches. On the other side there is an area you will see where the colour has worn off (2 spots that remind me of putting fingertip pressure on something). The colour has worn off on the corners of the piping. The strap has the old good brass dog leash clips that have the anchor stamped on used on the hardware of some of these early bags. Also, it does not have it's hangtag. From my perspective I see this bag being best for the following: - someone who is really good at rehabbing or not afraid to make an attempt - Possibly dyeing it the same, or another colour (I am usually against that, however these really old light coloured bags are harder to find in good shape) -Purchasing the bag for the parts - these anchor dog clips are pretty rare (just last week I saw a vintage 70's or 80s Coach strap go for much more than I am listing this bag for on auction of another popular platform)

stylish2ndhand Great find! That style was introduced in 1974.

chris_toronto @stylish2ndhand Thanks! I have 2 other NYC models of this bag (a black one in good condition but that one cost me over $250), a medium brown one that's decent except for the zipper (the teeth pulled apart from the fabric) which I am going to attempt to repair at some point. If no one is interested in this one I may look into using this zipper to replace the one on the brown bag (that I can't do myself but I live around the corner from a leather shop that does great repairs).

stylish2ndhand @chris_toronto Great idea! You might even be able to save the zipper. There is a great shoe repair in Markville Mall (Odeon) that repaired a leather coat zipper with teeth separating from the fabric for me a few years ago. He sewed and glued them back together. Still works!

s_fulton1 Hello! Beautiful bag! May I ask: have you done anything to the bag since receiving it and, if so, could you let me know what products you’ve used?

chris_toronto @s_fulton1 Hi - since it is a 70's bag I have not idea what it went through before I acquired it a few years back, but I did do the dunk method with Dawn when I first got it. I am sure I rubbed in some Apple leather conditioner at the time as that's what brand I used for my projects (last year I invested in some Leather CPR and also Blackrock, but I got those for some other vintage bags. After I dunked it and realized that for me, the colour would be problematic, I just left it alone.

chris_toronto (cont.) I didn't want to risk doing something that couldn't be reversed, and with the areas of wear in my opinion it probably needs a dye job (I do have a black Fiebings for corner touch-ups on black, but I feel like this might look interesting in a colour like that green on the vintage ergos. I'm just not sure I have the skill, and I love vintage Coach not to attempt it myself unless I have no choice, so I decided to see if anyone more experienced wants to take it on before I attempt anything

s_fulton1 @chris_toronto thank you for such a thorough answer! I totally agree re: dye job. I would love to attempt an olive or a Hunter green. But it would also be my first time dying so I’m as nervous as you are about the whole thing… serendipitously someone posted about attempting a similar dye job in the VCC group yesterday.
