This great round tin is green and red with a lithograph of the John Ginger character created by Huntley & Palmers in 1933 as an advertising promotion to increase sales of their famous ginger nut biscuit. The company based in Reading, England was established in 1822 (201 years ago!) and re-established in 2006 after a brief hiatus. I'm not sure of the exact date of this particular tin, but it and other H&P biscuit tins have achieved museum status for their bright, colourful and iconic designs. The tin is 8 inches in diameter and 2-1/4 inches deep. It is in very good condition, with only a couple of light scratches on the top and very little rust or staining, so it presents very well - and could still be used to store biscuits!
