This is an original piece of art that you won’t find anywhere else! This paddle was hand carved by the late Steven Reid who was the last surviving member of the Stopwatch Gang ( A group of bank robbers responsible for the biggest gold heist in North America to date) The paddle was made by Steven while serving his time in the WilliamHead Penitentiary on Vancouver Island in 2010-2012. Steven Reid won awards for some of his writing, wrote books as well as contributed to a movie made about the notorious group of bank robbers before his death in 2018 . There is slight splitting on the end of the handle ( natural sign of age ) , a few scratches but other than that it is in excellent condition.

bakwamblessings He was a very, very close friend of my late uncle! I wish I could afford this astronomical asking. Sad to see pieces like this out here when it should be in our home communities.

trislyndb @bakwamblessings I am taking offers on this , I agree it is astronomical and I would be very pleased to see it go to someone who knew the wonderful man that he was and to have it in his home community would be a very heartwarming end to the story of this piece. I am a very reasonable person and I would consider any offer given! His canteen receipts sold for $12000/yr when he was in WilliamHead Penitentiary ,i based my price in relation to that.

bakwamblessings @trislyndb this is also fraudulent formline art. Stephen Reid was mixed Ojibway making any of his coastal art fraudulent formline even if he was taught by people from our nations. I understand selling indigenous art but seeing colonizers trying to get rich off of our sacred art instead of having a pure heart and donating things to communities, makes me sick!

trislyndb @bakwamblessings I am sorry that you feel this way. I am not trying to get rich off it , it is just a special piece to me . If you find this so offensive I will remove my listing .I certainly never intended on ruffling any feathers or engaging in any sort of “fraudulent “ ( your words) activity on here ! I apologize for anything I have done that makes you feel I have been indecent to you or your culture , I was only trying to sell a piece of memorabilia .

bakwamblessings @trislyndb regardless of the memorabilia it contains fraudulent formline AKA not authentic formline. I really hope you consider donating this somewhere instead of selling it.
