• Custom patches, screenprinting & tailoring mark the surface of this detailed garment like long scars stretching across its back & down each arm. • Some areas have been repaired using secondary garments, resulting in a striking yet utility based aesthetic. For example, the front left chest pocket was replaced with the front pocket from a pair of Levi's 501 denim jeans; it's a creative & functional workaround and it's clear to others that it is in fact a custom alteration. Ultimately, it's this type of creative customization, one that exemplifies the notions of creativity, quality craftmanship & sustainability that is the basis for all of the work we do at Saint Yams. • Unique & moody graphics were plastered onto the jacket in a manner so as to appear sporadic & were sewn on both the exterior & interior, meaning that, in the case of the latter, they're visible only through large tears & rips in the original denim. • The texture on large swathes of the jacket mimics the highly sought-after Japanese craft of 'boro' whereby vintage garments are continually repaired over time, each repair adding a new layer of fabric to the mix which eventually results in an eclectic array of materials that's visually comparable to an abstract painting.
