Custom Vintage Wedding Dress Re-design/Restoration

Lizadiaz.com May 2025 The original dress is 95 years old. This is advertising, not for sale. After a full deconstruction on the original, while knowing that I could lift the yellow, we decided to go for it. This would mean shrinkage, but I believed the bodice had enough textile to handle the redesign. I also had a back up plan if it could not. After testing and testing and more testing..... You have no idea how stressful it is to work with a textile that you can make zero mistakes with. The design was mocked up 4 different times in a similar fabric to decide on which way it would come together best, I finally decide to treat the bodice and top part of the skirt in the same way. In these areas the textile has been fused with an interfacing to give it structure & support. Only the skirt portion is cut on the bias. To be honest, even after doing that much "homework" there was still a chance at failure as all my testing wasn't done on the "actual textile" which of course could have wanted to stretch & drape a completely different way... this is where my back-up plan would have come into play. This is eluded too in my sketch for the dress, there was also a lace petticoat overlay that I could have used.
