DUBARRY CHINTZ CUP & SAUCER

The ‘chintz’ patterns in chinaware were named for their resemblance to the floral-patterned cotton fabrics of the same name. Their popularity was part of the ‘cottage decorating’ trend that became a fashion item in the 1920’s and continued well into the 1950’s. This is a vintage cup and saucer set in the ‘DuBarry’ pattern from James Kent. It features an all-over design of open-faced flowers in white and strong shades of pink, yellow, and blue, together with their greenery, setagainst a pale background. The set is in excellent condition, without cracks, chips, scratches, stains, or any other damage or defect. Handsome!
