Decorate Collector's Plate Cochrane 75th Anniversary Men of Vision, Canada 1977

Dimensions. Plate diameter 9.25 in (23.7 cm). Condition. Excellent condition, no chips, cracks or scratches. The gold is also in excellent condition. Description. This commemorative porcelain plate celebrates the 75th anniversary of Cochrane, Canada and honors the Men of Vision with a vintage design. The raised edge and gold trim add elegance to the centerpiece featuring a bronze statue. On the back of the plate there is an explanatory inscription “This is a picture of the Statue that will be in the Cochrane Historic Ranche Site Park. Reproduced by permission of the Artist for Cochrane Lions Club”. Since the statue was installed in 1979, this plate was released before this event, most likely in 1977. A must-have for collectors and fans of Canadian history. A little information. The famous bronze cowboy on horseback statue stands atop a bluff overlooking Cochrane, a tribute to ranchers, cowboys, and pioneers or “Men of Vision” who built the town. In 1977-1976, Alberta Culture, after considering proposals from more than 30 sculptors, chose a wax model of Malcolm James MacKenzie, or “Mac” as he was known in the ranching community. "Men of Vision" was placed in its final resting place atop the Ranche hill overlooking the community May 21, 1979.
