EAPG Gillinder Frosted Lion Oval Platter, handled. 13" x 9" Gillinder Glass, a custom glass manufacturer with a rich history, was founded in 1861 by William Thynne Gillinder in Philadelphia. The company, originally known as Philadelphia Flint Glass Works, evolved through various name changes, including Franklin Flint Glass Works, Gillinder & Bennett, and Gillinder & Sons, before becoming Gillinder Glass. They are known for their distinctive pressed glass designs, including popular patterns like Westward Ho, Classic, and Liberty Bell. The company also gained recognition for their glass souvenirs produced at the 1876 Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia, which included elegant busts of historical figures. Gillinder Glass continues to operate today, specializing in custom-molded, hand-pressed glass, as well as optical prism processing and engineering.
