New with Tags Echoes in the Attic makes a variety of bags and purses using leftover material donated by other manufacturers. Entrepreneurs Vicky Gerke and Laura Jennekens launched Echoes in the Attic, making “salvage-savvy handbags for planet-lovers”, they set a business goal of diverting 25,000 pounds of fabric from landfills by 2010. Fast forward to November 2010 and the women have more than met their goal, happily announcing that 30,000 pounds later, they’ve designed thousands of handbags that are available in close to 100 stores across Canada.
