Elegant Silver Decorative Bowl

This is a Victorian silver-plated wine bottle caddy or coaster. It features intricate pierced sides and a raised grapevine pattern around the edge. Wine coasters were introduced around the 1760s. They were designed to hold wine or decanter bottles and protect the table surface. This particular style dates to around the 1890s. This is a vintage piece of silver-plated serveware. Stamped Old English Reproduction It is made of electroplated copper (E.P. ON COP). I have seen folks use it for a marmalade dish, jam or some have used it as an ashtray. It's a very interesting piece of history to have a certainly a conversational piece at your next party.
