wiley1111 Hello! hard to discern colour: is it black with another colour pinstripe? also, is 45R the actual size...? could you show labels with both size and fabric? : )

robbinsnest519 Had a closer look at sizing the jacket is actually 48. The color is black with a very fine stitched pinstripe. Took photos outside and sun reflects off the fabric so looks more grey. Inside definately black. I do have three Canali blazers 44R that I have not listed yet.Couple Boss and Canali pinstripe single and double breast suits as well. Just working on the sizing before posting. Let me know your thoughts. I do have a bit of room for negotiation. Take care!

decadesdeep Just took a gamble on a Zegna 46R and lost! Tailored for a fellow with short arms and skinny! I’m 510 and about 230 right now, just a little bit chunky X Jock build. The 46R just too small all around but not by too much. I’m wondering how this one is tailored, for example, length wise in the arms, I have normal length arms.

decadesdeep They say Z Zegna is is younger, slimmer, less expensive Zegna line. I wonder how slim? I used to live in Brantford by the way, for decades on and off. Family home, high school, etc.

robbinsnest519 @decadesdeep Thanks for the inquiry. The drop 8 Zegna is tailored for the European standard which is smaller. I'm 5'11" and 205 lbs. The jacket fits perfect. If you think it may work, I can attempt to make more accurate measurements.

decadesdeep I think I am too beefy for these Zegna cuts. Me at 5’10” 205 I would be a cut lean machine – I am a long way from that these days and must embrace reality! Great apparel however, I’m just afraid I’m not suited, pardon the pun, to these items. I really need to look at an athletically-shaped person like myself, like a Mike Tyson build or a 5’10” fullback (which I was in my playing days) and select similar to what they are wearing. Lots of muscle with some extra baggage, you know…

decadesdeep This from the web (ex footballer, now tv commentator): “I’m built like a little white Mike Tyson. I’m 5’7”, 210. I’ve got a 33-inch waist and wear like a 48 or 50 short in a suit.” Well I’ve got a 37”or even a 38” waist these days, 5’10”, currently 230. So that’s what I’m dealing with. I guess I should go up to like a 50R or even a 52R…

robbinsnest519 @decadesdeep I do come across Zengna periodically. If I find one that fits big on me perhaps I will pick it up and message you.

decadesdeep Awesome! That would be a great help! I’m just kind of a boxy guy these days! Looking for that one dress jacket that can get me through all occasions! I once found a pre-owned Holt Renfrew black jacket that I recall fit me quite well, I should dig that out of my suit bags. I’m kind of in transition. It’s the only one I recall that has ever fit me these days. If I find it, I’ll send you the size just for your reference. Country boy these days, mostly North Face & Carhartt!

robbinsnest519 @decadesdeep Are you stuck on Zegna? I do come across other made in Italy brands. I do find Canali suits and jackets occasionally. Very similar, super fine Italian wool. Finding the right fit in a luxury brand can take time.

decadesdeep No, not at all stuck on Z. My favourite suit back in the day was sort of a dark green linen Donna Karan. Pretty loose in its structure, I could dress the part without really trying! That was like 25 years ago! Still have that jacket. I strongly doubt it would fit me today! Bit of a Michelin man, I think these days, gotta do something about that! You know the territory, imagine a guy who likes to go XXL on stuff like Icebreaker, Smartwool, Fjallraven, ARCTERYX, things like that. That’s me!🤓👍🥳

decadesdeep I’m totally open to your suggestions and discoveries in this field! Can’t tell you how much I appreciate you looking for me! I am many miles away from any urban centers. Lots of plaid bush shirts up here and hunting boots if you know what I mean! Not too many Canalis! Thanks much!!

decadesdeep PS I seem to be a 38” waist these days, if Carhartt is any indication. One thing I always hated, was feeling straitjacketed in a dress jacket or suit. I think comfort in a suit is very tricky with my post-jock bulky build, but essential for my well-being! I mean why dress up if you don’t feel good wearing the garment!

robbinsnest519 @decadesdeep I'm a 38 waist as well. I'll keep my eyes open for you. If I find a black, slightly big on me jacket or suit, fine or super fine wool 120 and up, I'll pick it up and message you. Could take a while.

robbinsnest519 @decadesdeep Got you a suit jacket. Picked it up yesterday. Should be your fit 48R. Baroni Couture Super 150's wool. Made in Italy. Dark Charcoal. Just listed it in my closet.

decadesdeep Wow, thanks. I made an offer, hope it’s enough. If it indeed is a fit, we could work this program for another one one day! I really appreciate your looking out, you are a man of your word! You know I’m a little bit gun-shy after last (Zegna) purchase, where I was way off!

robbinsnest519
robbinsnest519 @decadesdeep A bit low, but I will accept knowing that you are taking a chance on the sizing. Take the savings and put it towards tailoring if needed. It is a regular, so arms might need to be shorter. I just hope it buttons up properly...although, I never button my jackets up anymore 😅

decadesdeep I appreciate it! And yes, bit of a risk at this moment! But I think we’re on right track here – you’re def an asset for me in this endeavour. And we maybe can do it again, and I can step up closer to your asking next time, once this question of sizing is answered when I get to put it on. So fingers crossed. And yes, I’ll have to seek out a good tailor, likely. If it works, you can look out for an all-black jac for me next in higher bracket. But Baroni sounds well liked by all accounts! Cheers!!

robbinsnest519 @decadesdeep Package was dropped off at the post office yesterday afternoon. Took longer than usual as I had to go purchase an appropriate sized box for shipping.

decadesdeep No worries, in fact I consider that a quick turnaround! Many thanks, and I already have a well-liked area tailor scoped out if needed (which it likely will be!). All good! (I’m sure those boxes aren’t cheap…). Appreciated, sir! I’ll let you know how it fits when it comes in!
