Fabric belt from Mexico

This wide belt or narrow shawl from Cuetzalan, Puebla is totally made by hand. The unbleached cotton is woven on a backstrap loom, the fringes sorted and tied and tassels decorating each end. The piece is 6 1/2 inches wide and 84 inches long. It has a nice tight weave and is one of the few pieces that I saw that was 100% cotton.
