Vintage fine bone china pair by Gladstone Staffordshire, England.
The mug and saucer are decorated not with the usual flowers, but with waves of blue, black and gray blades of grass. Accents are also made not with traditional gold, but with silver lines. This unusual cup has clearly been loved at one time, so it has a slight loss of silver that is barely noticeable. This is the only sign of use, there are no cracks, scratches or stains on the mug and saucer.
Mug capacity approx 8 oz (250 ml), diameter 3 1/4" (8.5 cm), height 2 3/4" (7 cm). Saucer diameter 5 1/2" (14 cm).
A bit of information. In 1956, the Clean Air Act banned smoking chimneys from the pottery industry. Gladstone bottle kilns were last fired in 1960. Later, for several years, the company was engaged only in the design and shipment of dishes, until it finally closed in 1970. Currently, the Gladstone Pottery Museum operates on the territory of the factory.
