This is the classic "For Whom The Bell Tolls," by Ernest Hemmingway. It was published by Charles Scribner's Sons in 1968. It has a blue cloth cover and spine with gilt and silver lettering on the cover and spine. The cover also has a facsimile signature of the author and a quill. The pages are deckle edged. "The story is based on Hemingway's experiences during the Spanish Civil War and features an American who fights alongside Spanish guerillas for the Republicans. The novel graphically describes the brutality of the war and is told primarily through the thoughts and experiences of the protagonist, Robert Jordan. It draws on Hemingway's own experiences in the Spanish Civil War as a reporter for the North American Newspaper Alliance."
