So sorry for the tardy reply! I was out of town and forgot to turn on "vacation" mode! The scarf does not really have a front and back — it is beautiful on both sides. There is a tag on one side, but that would be easily removed. The snags are not obvious. They are about the size of a pinhead. You really only see them when you hold the scarf up to the light.
