These prints are from a 125-year-old “Encyclopedia”:
Animate Creation: Popular Edition of “Our Living World” A Natural History By Rev J.G. Wood.  Revised & adapted to American Zoology by Joseph B Holder M.D. Fellow of the New York Academy of Sciences; Member of the Society of Naturalists; Member of the American Ornithologists Union; Curator of Vertebrate Zoology, American Museum of Natural History (Central Park, New York).
Published 18th of October 1898 by Selmar Hess, Press of JJ Little Co.
The books had cracked spines and water spotted pages.  The information contained would be dated but these extraordinary Illustrations, printed in full colour or full-page wood engravings are too precious to let lay hidden in musty pages of a deteriorating book.
As the drawings are meant to be of a scientific nature, the renderings are very realistic and do not always show happy animals/mammals at play.
Note the photo of the inside of the frame, the back of the mat with picture attached is not of this picture but representative of how the pictures are attached to the frame.
Each picture has been trimmed to maximize their beauty. The description of the animal/ mammal is included underneath the frame. If the picture is signed, that too is available under the mat.
