Fritz Van Daalen West Germany, Fat Lava Vase. 1960, Studio Pottery. Founded in 1938 by Fritz van Daalen based in Schwäbisch Gmünd and later moved to Aalen in the 1950s. Van Daalen used dark red clay. Almost all tems were marked with marked with a stylized VD symbol (see photo). Gorgeous frothy winter white lava glaze and stunning gritty, contrasting dark brown glaze. Free from chips, blemishes, cracks or flaws. Natural inconsistencies in colour are the nature of studio pottery glazing and not wear. The dark area in front of the vase is just a shadow in photography. Very rare. Signed VD, Van Daalen. Authenticated.
