You attach it to your camera, connects instantly and you set either auto/manual. Play around with the settings (the flash can be subtle or SUPER bright). Compact so you can bring it everywhere you need extra light. Many cameras nowadays are made without the internal flash. Enter this little guy to help out. It attaches easily and removes easily but when it's on the hotshoe, it's on there sturdy (you tighten it with the dial). Amazing product.
