Govancroft Pottery was founded in Glasgow, Scotland by James Buchanan in 1911 and specialized in utilitarian stoneware until 1946. Starting in the 1950’s they introduced matte glazed stoneware dinnerware and coffee and tea sets. The pottery closed in 1976.
The last photo is an advert from the 1970s advertising the 'Lunar' pattern stoneware.
Please remember when purchasing vintage items that they have a history attached to them and often show wear, which I do my very best to disclose.
