Indigenous hand carved George Matilpi Kwakiutl Eagle vintage cedar plaque. Very good vintage condition. Signed by artist on reverse in pencil “GEORGE MATILPI KWAKIUTL EAGLE”. George Matilpi is a member of the Kwakwaka'wakw Nation. He was born in 1953 in Alert Bay, British Columbia and began carving at the age of fourteen. George is a full-time artist and carver who prefers to work in cedar, which is important to Pacific Northwest Coast indigenous culture. Measurement (approximate): 7" x 7" x 5/8"
