There are traces of use, but they are only visible upon close examination. There are no cracks, chips or gray streaks. Marking was preserved only on three mugs. Description. 5 vintage tempered glass mugs and saucers from Corning's famous Corelle brand. Mugs have an unusual shape that allows you to compactly set mugs into each other. The blue pattern on a white background is officially called "Old Town Blue", also called "Blue Bow". This pattern was used by Corning from 1974 until 2017. Dishwasher and microwave safe. A little information. Products with a blue onion pattern were first made by the Meissen Porcelain Factory in 18th century in Germany. The inspiration for the creation of such products was a Chinese bowl of the Kangxi period of 1662-1722, painted blue under glaze. In the original design of the Chinese bowl, the fruits were not onions, but peaches or pomegranates, which are symbols of longevity and fertility in China. But since these fruits were not common in Germany, the Meissen artists depicted them very roughly, resulting in a fruit that looked like an onion.
