Glo Hill - Gourmates small square cake serving tray with red bakelite hanlles

A Canadian vintage, MCM classic! Inspired by the chrome and designs from the 1920s. This company was a leader supplying chrome serve ware and their signature bakelite handles. These handles are their 'cherry red' they had an amber color of bakelite too for their products. FYI bakelite is a hard, durable, chemically resistant plastic invented in 1907. Colors became available in the 1940s. Bakelite became expensive so it wasn't used as much in later decades. And of course cheaper plastics were invented and available. Approx measurements: with handles - 8 1/2 inches wide serving area - 6 1/2 x 6 1/2 In good pre-owned vintage condition with the original sticker. Some light scratches on the chrome from normal, light use. (They used paper doilies back in the day to protect serve ware from scratches). I have a few more pieces of Glohill in my closet.
