This 1940s piece was likely given by a member of the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps as a keepsake to his sweetheart. It bears the insignia of King George VI (reigned from 1936 to 1952) and the motto "Honi soit qui mal y pense" (Evil unto him that thinks evil of it). It does not have the monograms or pictures that would have let us know a bit more about the giver and the recipient.
About an inch long, on a herringbone chain of about 19 inches (marked Korea). The locket is marked GF for Gold Filled and a maker's mark in a circle, which I think belongs to the early 29th century British firm W.R. Williams. The locket is in very good vintage condition, with little or no tarnish, etching details still sharp and no missing enamel. There are very fine surface scratches, consistent with the age of the piece and the likelihood it was well loved.
