Gothic Swirling Rhinestone Cross Necklace

This necklace is made of a dark tone metal and has an adjustable lobster clasp closure with a maker's tag stamped RB. The necklace chain is made of swirling metal with white/clear rhinestone accents. The front of the necklace is interesting and a bit of a mystery - there are two layers. The rhinestone cross you see at the front is a brooch with a modern locking c pin closure on the back. The pin is fed through some of the metal swirls of the necklace behind it. The chain tassel at the bottom is attached to the brooch. There are also some black threads in the back of the necklace that secure the brooch to it. In theory, the brooch should be removable but I'm not sure what the necklace would look like without it.
