Beautiful painted wood scuplture of a shoreline bird resting with its head between its folded wings.
Top of its head has a layer of irradescent pink/purple tinged varnish, to mimic the effect of sunlight on feathers.
Base seems to be a solid piece of cork, including the original bark of the tree. Cork is lightweight and porous, and feels like cork, but unsure if this sculpture can actually float on water - NOT TESTED. Real dried moss has been added at the feet of the bird, and dried wild grass completed the scultpure.
- Hard to make out the name of the artisan shop that produced this sculpture, but the postal code is visible in the stamp ''H7A 4B3", which is the address of the Association of Laval Scultpors (in French: Association des Sculpteurs de Laval).
- Very good condition, with some small paint fragments gone here and there.
- Grass has been removed from twig support and packed separately in enveloppe within shipping box (can be reinserted later in hollow twig by buyer).
- Sculpture/Decoy has NOT BEEN TESTED ON WATER - Unsure if the cork actually floats or if the decoy is balanced correctly to be able to float without toppling over.
