A brass grasshopper figurine, adorned with a striking green patina, offers a unique and eye-catching decorative piece. The aged green finish, often called verdigris, is a natural result of oxidation on brass and adds a touch of vintage charm and character. This captivating combination of the warm, golden brass beneath the patina and the cool green hue creates a visually appealing contrast that draws the eye. Such a figurine can bring a whimsical and organic element to a bookshelf, desk, or mantelpiece, blending seamlessly with both modern and traditional decor styles. The detailed craftsmanship of the grasshopper, coupled with the alluring patina, transforms a simple object into a miniature work of art, whispering tales of time and nature. Grasshoppers often symbolize good luck, abundance, and the ability to take chances and overcome fear. They can also represent positive change, astral travel, and the courage to leap into the unknown. In some cultures, like China, they are associated with prosperity and a sense of adventure.

mpaulaw How charming! Here is a description from Wikipedia: Grasshopper Common name for a group of insects Grasshoppers are a group of insects belonging to the suborder Caelifera. They are amongst what are possibly the most ancient living groups of chewing herbivorous insects, dating back to the early Triassic, around 250 million years ago. Grasshoppers are typically ground-dwelling insects with powerful hind legs which allow them to escape from threats by leaping vigorously.

mpaulaw Front legs are shorter and used for grasping food." Grasshopper is an important staple delicacy in Africa, Asia, Australia and South America. I've been vegetarian 50 years but haven't decided whether insects should be part of my diet. I love learning. Thanks for giving me a reason to learn about them.
