HAND-PAINTED CUP & SAUCER - FIVE-O'CLOCK-TEA

This handsome vintage Japanese cup & saucer set from Shafford China features a hand-painted design of dark grapes and yellow pears on a gleaming opalescent background, with all of it finished with a generous helping of bright gold. The set is the collectable ‘Five-o’Clock-Tea’ size, about 25-30% smaller than a regular-sized pair, but substantially larger than a demi-tasse set, with the saucer measuring 4 ¾ inches across and the cup 3 ¼ inches across the mouth. Both pieces are in excellent condition, without cracks, chips, scratches, stains, or any other damage or defect. Marked ‘Shafford’. Very nice!
