Creates white noise sounds to help with sleep and anxiety as well as drown out background noise. Has two settings, one quieter and one louder: switch changes setting and also turns machine on or off. I I preferred this to YouTube white noise channels and also conserved my bandwidth by not streaming white noise every night. Works great, I just can't use it anymore because I live in a trailer and the outlets only work on shore power.
