Hand Painted Ceramic Vase - Frazarte Portugal - 7" - 17th Century Style We were very please to acquire this vase at an estate sale. The hand painted florals and fauna caught our eye as did the wonderful colors with mutiple shades or blues and other colors.. 7" Tall x 6" at the widest point, base has a 3 3/4" Diameter, Top opening is 2 1/2"  -- weighs 1 lb. 13 ounces Frazarte was a small cermaic maker in Portugal, they created many reproduction pieces using paterns and styles from the 17th century as the mark on th base indicates. They are now defunct and their last shipment was sent to NY in 2008. That may have been around the time they became insolvent and shut down.  The designs on modern Portuguese ceramics are often based on older designs, and the use of Sec. followed by Roman numerals generally refers to the century of the original design.
