Handmade Vintage Kimono Jacket

This is a gorgeous handmade kimono jacket! I never wore it, but it was already vintage when my sister purchased it in Japan over 20 years ago when she lived there. There are some signs of age (a couple of little spots on the inside and a couple on the right sleeve) but otherwise in great condition for its age. The fabric is thick and good quality and features a lovely, delicate floral pattern with a slight silky sheen. It looks like maybe the person who made it signed their name in red thread. I would love if someone could tell me what it says!

whiteishcat I am very interested, but i know kimono silk, especially if it is painted is very difficult to find someone to clean it properly. Does this need a cleaning? Does it have the dusty vintage smell?

tarabarabobara @whiteishcat It does have a light vintage scent to it. It hasn’t been worn in almost 3 decades (at least), but it has been stored with other vintage items. The fabric does have a number of spots on on it from either wear or age (see photos and description). They are subtle unless you’re looking closely. Your comment about the hand painted silk made me appreciate the pattern even more. I’m looking at the flowers now, and the contrast in how the paint sits on the fabric is so lovely ✨
