Highland Light Infantry of the British Army Cap Badge

The star is a traditional element associated with Highland regiments and the grenade refers to a regiment's fusilier status. This Cap Badge dates back to The Battle of Assaye, fought in 1803. Certainly a rare find. This pre-owned metal badge features a complex design with a crown atop crossed, textured squares. A horn is centrally placed, encircling a monogram. Below, a banner reads "ASSAYE" above an elephant figure. The badge exhibits a dual-tone finish, with gold and silver hues. Minor surface wear is visible, consistent with age and use.
