Hutschenreuther is the name of a German family that established the production of porcelain in German Northern Bavaria in 1814. The founder was Carolus Magnus Hutschenreuther who established a factory in a town called Hohenberg an der Eger. Carolus Magnus died in 1845. After his death the factory was run by his wife and two sons.
In 1857, Lorenz Hutschenreuther, the elder son of Carolus Magnus Hutschenreuther, established a porcelain factory in Selb. They expanded from 1902 to 1969 and were named Porzellanfabriken Lorenz Hutschenreuther AG Selb (Lorenz Hutschenreuther Porcelain Factories Company, Selb).
The stamp on the bottom of this coffee/ teapot states it was made between the years of 1948 and 1970. I made an inquiry to "Rosenthal" who told me this pattern was manufactured as one of many different others at the "CM 150", and was designed by Stephan Eusemann in 1964. They couldn't identify the pattern as their records only go back 35 years. So this is a very rare and unfortunately unknown pattern.
In 2000 Hutschenreuther became part of the Rosenthal Division of the Wedgwood Group. Rosenthal continues to use Hutschenreuther’s trademark.
