Jan Van Erp Karamiek Waalre-Holland Poppy Console Bowl /Ashtray, Dutch Fat Lava

This bright Mid Century Fat Lava dish was made in the Netherlands by Jan Van Erp Karamiek Waalre-Holland Pottery. It has a highly textured brown finish on the outside of the dish with a glossy red, yellow, and purple poppy in "fat lava" glaze in the center. As it was originally intended as an ashtray there are three notches around the outer rim which could easily be ignored if one wanted to use it as a console bowl or trinket dish. There are no stamps or marks on the bottom. It is approximately 8 1/4 inches across and about 1 3/4 inches tall. It is in quite good condition with no cracks. There is the start of some crazing and there are some tiny chips around the base and one on the side, along with some minor flea bites which are normal for this type of texture.
