Jaunty vintage brooch by de Passillé-Sylvestre

Quebec artisans Micheline de Passillé and Yves Sylvestre produced some of the most bold and distinctive modernist enamel jewelry and accessories of the 1960's and 1970's. DPS pieces were given by the Canadian and Quebec governments to such visitors as Madame Charles de Gaulle and Princess Grace of Monaco! This brooch, measuring about 1-1/4 inches square depicts a little boat sailing under a golden sun. It bears the de Passillé-Sylvestre signature. It is in good vintagr condition, with a bit of wear showing on one sail and a flake of enamel missing on the bottom right corner.
