One of a kind, signed J Diller raku pottery mini vase 2.5" high Iridescent copper, green and brown with a beaded wire collar. No chips or cracks The process that produces Raku carries the pot through a cycle of earth. air, water and fire. Each piece must endure a series of shocks as it is heated to 2000 degrees at a fast rate, which can make it explode. If it survives, then it is removed with tongs into the cool air. The piece is then placed into a container of brush and mesquite wood shavings that will ignite a raging inferno. This combination produces the radiant tones of color in the metallic glazes and the wonderful crackled glazes. The last phase of this cycle is where the piece is plunged into cold water while still very hot ( 1000 degrees ! )
