The object of this work is to depict the life of the period of English history which may legitimately be described as the Age of Johnson. Johnson lived from 1709 to 1784. The book is descriptive rather than critical. There are many photographs of paintings and prints from the era. Hardcover without dust jacket. Minor wear on covers, pages are mostly clean and intact, except for a few pages so noted in above photos.
