Lafayette 148 Pewter and White Shift Dress Boatneck Tailored Luxury - Size 10

I wish I had a dress form so that could get closer to doing this stunner of a dress justice! It simply doesn't want to lie flat; it is made to wrap itself around the body. The thick pewter and white fabric has just a touch of sheen, and those darker panels add interest, but they're not just for show. They perfectly criss-cross at the hip and then pull inward right at the waist to create tremendously flattering shapes. This truly looks good from every angle! With that spectacular structure, an exact bust measurement was tough. There’s magic at work here, as there aren't any darts, but the side panels meet up with the centre panel in a way that adds volume at the bust. That's perfect, as this fabric has very little stretch (see tag for fabric composition in photos), but I couldn't do a "laying flat" measurement and get accurate results. I think I got fairly close, but do let me know if you'd like more or different measurements. This dress is in crisp, excellent shape with a flawless appearance. The only thing I noticed is a tiny spot where some of the fine thread that defines the edges of those shaping panels has fluffed up. In my opinion, it is not visible unless you're within inches of it and know what you're looking for. You can see it in the close-up photo above.
