Large bronze swallow pendant, ornate copper bird thistle fantasy jewelry

...unmarked Joseff of Hollywood collectible pendant A large oval copper or bronze pendant, ornately decorated with thistles, art nouveau swishes and a flying bird - possible meant to represent a swallow because of the defined split tail. It is quite interesting that the pendant is almost better viewed upside down and that the bird head looks like a baroque dolphin. The piece is unmarked for a maker. The only piece which is remarkably similar was by Joseff of Hollywood (Scottish Thistle Brooch). Condition: In good shape with some discoloration of the metal and bending to the hanging loop. Size: 2 7/8 inches high x 2 inches wide (7.4 cm x 5.2 cm) Symbolism: "The image of the bird holds deep symbolism since the Victorian age where sailors adopted adopted the swallow as a talisman of good luck and a harbinger of land.
