As any well rounded and self educated Aritzia girl should be, I pay attention to important news. Like Aritzia news. So BH ( Brian Hill- the owner) is stepping out of the CEO position. A person Jennifer Wong who has been with the company for 35 years is now taking on his position. What did I learn from this article: if you work hard and are loyal, work smart, and are nice and kind - like Jennifer Wong, you get to good places in the world and are rewarded for it. I worked with Jennifer Wong a few times at Oakridge- she would cover shifts - and not good shifts either like 5-9pm shifts in Oakridge Mall. No job was beneath her and she was nice and professional to everyone on the floor. I don’t know her now- That was the 90s- but she did her time working every Boxing Day with zero complaints ( back then at least you HAD to work Boxing Day even the people who worked at “Support Office” and you were told that it was mandatory to work that day when you accepted the job ……) Now look at her… a place at the table as CEO and likely has a verrryyy healthy stock Aritzia portfolio. And likely a closet beyond our wildest dreams….. I’m not sure what I’m more jealous of…. It will be interesting to see what changes - if anything- but word on the street is that Aritzia may start some kind of loyalty program, I hope it’s a good one.
