Ruching on the one side through the midsection. Stretchy spandex material type. The dress does actually have two Threaded ties on the side, where apparently a tie belt used to be, but I never wore the dress with the belt and never had it. In one of the photos I did put my own belt on though to show that you could use any belt of your own at home and it would look great or you could use the dress without the belt at all.
