@tabbyah they are meant to look distressed. It’s a style where they purposefully make things look worn. Kind of like ripped jeans. These cut offs have frayed edges on purpose as well (not from excess wear).
You can definitely buy ones that look cleaner and more ironed. It’s just a style preference. I’m sure you could find ones that ‘look new’ on Poshmark or in a store:)
