🐕 Update: Dear Lupe passed away Aug. 5/2020. 😔😪😪 He's our South African Boerboel, a Mastiff breed, 160 lbs! Definitely a Gentle giant, unless you're going to mess with one of his pack. Then he would give his life to protect us. Though not an "official" therapy dog, he is to us. Loves trying to sit on our laps, cuddling, and if he really likes you, he'll back up to sit on your feet, softly of course. 8 lb. weight his fave toy! And never rests without his pillow, which he carries.

mmadonna40 Beautiful dog! What breed? I have a Rottweiler but she on the small side at only 86 lbs! Her mom and dad were champions and very large 135 & 150lbs. I think she's a runt but I love that she's not too big. Love me some guard dog! ❤ 😙 💋

It was love at first site when we got him at 8 weeks old. He's super big, but doesn't know it, loves to snuggle, and unfortunately, drools a lot !! Your rottie sounds just prefect !! You know 85 is still a lot of dog !!

seasonsofstyle @mmadonna40 I have had dickens of a time getting him to not bark and growl at every dog we see out walking. I've never had an easier dog to walk - stays right beside me, adjusts his speed to me, just perfect...Unless we see other dogs, which of course we always do. I finally got the idea to spray him in face with water, and that helped so, so much, but I still can't walk him without that spray bottle. But I love him so I always forgive him : )

mmadonna40 @mommolle Omgosh that's such a good idea with the spray bottle! I will have to try that and see how Kira responds. Lol! She does not like being on leash at all. We have a large yard and open space behind so she would rather stay home. She's terrible on leash! She pulls like crazy and I can't hold her if she decides to go! Sometimes she just lays down when she doesn’t want to go on and I can't budge her Lol! Otherwise she's well behaved and plays well with others.❤ 😙 💋

seasonsofstyle @annluggen I had a very busy weekend. Older sister came to her class reunion yesterday, so I ended up doing her hair and makeup so she would look perfect. And she did! And then some of our family and friends met for a little birthday luncheon for me yesterday and that was really sweet and fun. Mom and I have been watching the Olympics but last night I got the movie Love and Friendship for us. It's based on Jane Austen Novella.

seasonsofstyle @annluggen I'm so sorry you're feeling bad! Stopping Neuronten, 3200 mg.s daily, and Methadone, 10 mg.s BID (for pain) after 11 years just about killed me 😥. I can tell you it finally did get better after about 4-6 months. Seeing new neurologist at UAB, hoping for solutions.

Life breaks our hearts and fills our hearts with joy, all simultaneously. Caitlin was brilliant, high achiever, entered college as a sophomore due to taking so many AP courses in high school, sweet, funny, gorgeous. Very well rounded with great circle of friends. But could be ornery and disrespectful. Flawed as we all are.

seasonsofstyle Max was dyslexic, struggled all the way thru school, had awful time learning to read. Of course he still is, though to much lesser degree, and enjoys reading now. Math is still baffling and a huge challenge to him, as for me. He was thin skinned, bitter, insecure, and bad tempered, which he absolutely got from me. YES, it's true. (Amazing and God's redemptive grace that I became a psychotherapist with a pretty successful private practice.

Back to Max -- refused to go to community college after first month, even though he said at the time that first day was "one of best days of his life". He was constant source of worry and distress for me. As a teen he would storm out of house after fighting with me, as early as 12 and ride bike to his dad's house, who was not on my side. It only got worse as he began driving, and he moved out of house, 6

seasonsofstyle @annluggen months after Caitlin died. He didn't speak to me for months. My heart was broken again. In my home there were no children anymore. Like he had died too. The story goes on ... but too much to keep writing. (Can you tell In a little manic and can't settle down to sleep? Lol, even though I have incredibly long, busy day tomorrow.) The end of the story is that everyone loves Max. I hear all the time how wonderful he is. He writes me long, extremely moving and loving texts.

On mother's day he texted me a message of how much he loves me and how I've always been such a wonderful mother I've always been to him. Not true I was loving and affectionate, but a real screamer, and always felt out of control. I struggled like crazy, and was a therapist then! The irony!

So I do think that was a part of what went on with me, but think there was also much more. We women are just so amazingly complicated! And 1000x more so than men, those poor simple creatures.

Haven’t been able to do that for Years! Still breakfast about 4 am, take all the pills, back to sleep with tapes of rain and thunder. Love it. Sam, my Tibetan mastiff is very Old now. No longer able to get in car. 🤧😩

He had Lymphoma and was put down 6 weeks after the dx, when he couldn't get up and walk any more. it happened the best way possible with the vet coming to my son's house to do it. Max laid on the floor with him, and had hand fed him a grilled steak that morning.

seasonsofstyle @annabella8 Poor Sam! what do you think you're going to do? do you think Sam could get used to it? It is so hard to let them go. I explained it to Max like this, as soon as you choose a dog, you're signing up for a broken heart. Lupe was 12, actually almost 13.

seasonsofstyle @kathimack oh yes! now I remember, there's nothing offensive about it at all. I do things really fast sometimes, and I remember that shirt came up a few times. I see that happen sometimes, and I have no idea why. but today I was stuck in the car in traffic in passenger seat, talking to my husband, and really not paying hardly any attention to what I was doing other than getting sharing done to pass the time
