M Hilda of Iceland wool sweater, vintage lopapeysa wool

Absolutely gorgeous wool sweater from the well regarded Icelandic brand, Hilda. This is a gorgeous sweater in blue, white soft grey, with hits of colour from a marled yarn. This has no holes or wear. Unfortunately the previous owner made the mistake of washing in hot water and it has shrunk. So while it is marked as a men’s XL, it is really a woman’s large or men’s medium. The advantage is that wool which has been shrunk has a tighter weave and actually keeps you warmer. It’s actually a technique to shrink or felt wool for that purpose. Felted wool. So if you are looking for an extra warm Icelandic, Nordic, traditional sweater, this is the one for you. I have 3 so it’s time to pass it on. Traditional folk weaving pattern. Beautiful.
