Miami Spanglish Mix Edit In '96, American singer Madonna starred in the title role of the film adaptation of the musical, Evita & released her version of Don't Cry for Me Argentina from the film soundtrack. It received acclaim from critics who praised her vocal performance. A separate released version called the "Miami Mix", included re-recorded vocals in English & Spanish & an Argentinean bandoneon in the song's intro. This Promotional Edition was sent to club & radio station DJs in Dec '96 for club & radio play & was officially released as a single in Feb '97. The original version reached #1 in France, Spain & the European Hot 100 Singles, while the remix hit #1 on the USA Dance Club Songs Chart & the Top 10 on the USA Hot 100 & internationally.
